Appassionata is a dynamic classical guitar trio combining solo energy with the extra dimension of three performers.
Appassionata is comprised of Rebecca Baulch, Amanda Cook and Hayley Savage, all three of whom are established as highly successful musicians in their own right. They have won international competitions and performed in prestigious venues all over the world. Television and radio appearances have included performances with Andrea Boccelli and Jools Holland.
Rebecca, Amanda and Hayley first met in their early teens. At that time Hayley was studying with John Mills, Rebecca at the Purcell School and Amanda at the junior department of The Royal College of Music. John introduced them and they started performing together.
Rebecca, Amanda and Hayley decided to reform as Appassionata in 2003, in order to explore repertoire outside of the scope of the solo guitar and to enjoy the fun of working together once. The different experiences and interests each of the girls have gained in their solo careers provide a breadth of diversity in the trio's repertoire.
Appassionata have had works written for them by Paulo Bellinati, Bruce MacCombie, Ned Bennett, Hayley Savage and Mark Houghton. Their debut season has included concerts at the Purcell Room and Conway Hall in London, the Bath international Guitar Festival, Guiting Festival, the Assembly Rooms, Bath, South Hill Park, Nailsworth Arts Festival, and Wealden Guitar Society. The trio has also recently given interviews and live performances on Classic FM, BBC Radio 3 and Radio Gloucestershire, and their first CD will be launched later this year on the BGS label.
